More Updates
I can't believe it's taken me this long to get back here... but, there you go. And, on top of all else, I am SO NOT in a good mood... but that's not your fault. (Just two words: Micro-Soft)
ANYWAY, as to what I did once OPFM began imploding:
Started my own Credit-based safelist (did you really need me to tell you?-- after all my posts on the subject?) called Traffic Pro List. Yes, it is my favorite because, apart from the obvious, after getting aggravated enough at the way others were running them, I decided to give it a crack myself.
Of course, now that I own one, it would be pretty cheesy to criticise how others run theirs... but I can tell you, after being a safelist owner and inter-acting with many of them (they are all nice and there's this whole Safelist/Traffic-Exchange owner's com-patriot attitude among them, which is fine), I know a few of them really don't know a thing about marketing. At least, what a marketer needs and how to put the whole credit-aspect to its best advantage for everyone involved.
Of course, most do-- and they're really good at it. But mine's still the best. ;-)
And I also started a writing service for others. That has been an interesting experience. Again, as a marketer, I know I have the ability to sell-- something many writers lack. So it was less than a day before I began taking orders.
And, for the most part, both my clients and I have been pleased. Of course, there have been a few people who have tried to take advantage of me... like the guy who doesn't yet have a website and keeps bugging me to not only write about it (um... how, exactly, can I write about something that doesn't exist?), but also he insists that I help him develop a good marketing strategy for it. :( See... that's what marketing consultants are for. Not me. I write.
There's also the guy who wanted a 31 part-email series (or eseries, as I call them), but, again, no site in sight. I asked him what site this was promoting (so I could learn about it and, thus, write about it) and his response was, "well, if you don't feel you can do it, I'll find someone else." Please. DO!
I don't know... maybe it's too much to ask. I DO write fiction as well. But, really, guys. My writing service is strictly geared toward marketing... not fiction.
Of course, one little advantage is finding out about a LOT of new programs before they launch. (Program owners are my most frequent customers.) And, yes, that does put me in a nice position to see the more promising ones.
And, most recently -- at the urging of a friend -- I've set about compiling the bootcamp eseries into an ebook. That is, if *#@(# Acrobat with LET me! (This, you see, is the reason for my mood... three whole days battling with stupid software that ONLY interacts with -- of all things! -- Word... )
Have I mentioned how much I HATE WORD????
Word was created for engineers who are forced to type. NOT writers or typists!
And I'm REALLY annoyed that Adobe is such a lilly-livered sheep that it ONLY inter-acts with Word... I mean, the software COSTS $500 -- is it asking too much to accept more than one other type of document??? For crying out loud!!
Well, here I go again. I warned you: bad mood.
But, anyway, that's what I've been doing. Essentially, after being badly burned (want to see the scars), I'm gonna be much more careful about programs I join. There are ways to make a living independently... now, if only they would -- LOL!
